StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm, the upcoming expansion for the popular real-time strategy game, is set to launch March 12, 2013 according to a recent Blizzard press release.
Heart of the Swarm will be available at a suggested retail price of $39.99 both in stores and digitally from the official StarCraft 2 website. A collector's Edition that includes digital and physical bonus items will also be available at select retail stores for $79.99. This includes a behind-the-scenes DVD and Blu-ray, a collector's edition soundtrack, a hardcover art book and a Zerg Rush mousepad.
Users can receive both Heart of the Swarm and StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty from Battle.net for a discounted price of $59.99 — a 24 percent discount from its $79.98 price tag when purchased together.
In addition, a Digital Deluxe version will be made available for $59.99. Those who purchase the Digital Deluxe edition will also receive a copy of the expansion alongside in-game bonus items to use in StarCraft 2, World of Warcraft and Diablo 3, it is revealed on the website.
These include three StarCraft 2 Swarm-themed Battle.net portraits, a StarCraft 2 Zerg Ultralisk "Torrasque" skin, a World of Warcraft Baneling Battle Pet, a Diablo 3 Zerg banner sigil and a Diablo 3 "Blade Wings" item for heroes. Users who purchase the standard edition digitally or in retail have the option to upgrade to the Digital Deluxe version for an additional $20 at any time.
