Call of Dooty II: Green Ops might be what Doom would look like if it was done today

A Doom mod titled Call of Dooty II: Green Ops that lampoons modern first-person shooters with lengthy tutorials, flashbacks and character archetypes was released for free this week by video game and web content producer Matthew "Chubzdoomer" C.

A video of the mod was uploaded to YouTube, showing a makeover of John Romero's E1M2 Doom level. Chubzdoomer has added modern mechanics such as regenerating health, quick-time events, achievements and a bloody screen effect when the player takes damage. Chubzdoomer also recorded all the game's dialogue himself.

The YouTube video contains links to the game's download. Chubzdoomer has released a standard edition (digital copy of Call of Dooty II: Green Ops), a limited edition (comes with a before and after gallery) and a special edition (includes all of the above plus Green Ops Marine papercraft, downloadable content and a The Making of Call of Dooty II: Green Ops document.

Chubzdoomer's development blog can be followed here.
