Valve's second annual Saxxy Awards – a short film contest where competitors can use any Valve property to make a film with its Source Filmmaker tools – is now open for voting, Valve announced today.
The Saxxy Awards had its first run last year when budding animators were invited to use Valve's Source Filmmaker tool to make a short film with Team Fortress 2. This year the competition has expanded to allow for all Valve-owned properties like Portal, Left 4 Dead, Counter-Strike and Half-Life.
The deadline for submissions was yesterday, with community voting kicking off today. This year there are five categories in which the short films can win: Best Action, Best Drama, Best Comedy, Best Original Universe and Best Overall. All winners will receive a virtual Saxxy – a gold statuette of Saxton Hale, a character from Team Fortress 2 – and the Best Overall winner will receive a trip to Valve for a filmmaking session with Valve's Source Filmmakers.
To cast a vote, login to Steam and rate the submissions. Voting ends Nov. 27.
