The Last Story receives Wii re-release at lower price

The Last Story is back

Mistwalker's The Last Story is receiving a standard edition with a lower price point after sales of the original premium launch edition performed so well that it sold out at most retailers, making the game XSEED Games' most successful to date.

The Wii-exclusive role-playing game led by Hironobu Sakaguchi — best known for his work on the Final Fantasy series — was published in the U.S. by XSEED Games in a premium launch edition that came with a 44-page softcover art book and a special outer box and was priced at $49.99. These copies sold out quickly at many retailers. In response to the game's success XSEED is releasing a standalone version of the game without the bonus items that came with the premium launch edition for $29.99.

Any remaining premium launch editions will have their price lowered to $39.99.

The game will be available with updated prices in North America starting today at select retailers.
