Dust 514 screenshots, developer video showcase vehicles

Samit Sarkar (he/him) is Polygon’s deputy managing editor. He has more than 15 years of experience covering video games, movies, television, and technology.

Vehicles are a major part of galactic warfare in Dust 514, and the game's latest screenshots and developer diary focus on those war machines.

Game designer Ryan Thornton lays out the three classes of vehicles: On the ground are the light attack vehicle (LAV) and heavy attack vehicle (HAV), while dropships can be found in the air. The LAV serves as quick, humvee-type transportation, while the HAV resembles a tank.

Dust 514, in development at CCP Games, is the free-to-play PlayStation 3 analog to the studio's Eve Online MMO. It is currently in closed beta. From today through Nov. 26, the company is offering beta players three times the usual ISK (in-game currency) reward for standard battles, as well as a 50 percent discount on all vehicles.
