New deal grants UK 3DS XL owners pick of a free game, including Super Mario 3D

UK Nintendo 3DS XL owners who register their handhelds will get their choice of a free game, including Super Mario 3D Land or Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, Nintendo announced today.

Players must register their systems on the Club Nintendo website to be eligible for the free game download. Those who have previously registered are also eligible, and all registered owners can claim their free game when the promotion goes live on Jan. 1.

3DS XL owners have until Jan. 15 to register their systems for eligibility and until Jan. 31 to claim their free game.

Five titles are available with the offer: Super Mario 3D Land, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, New Art Academy: Learn New Painting Techniques and Share Your Art, Nintendo Presents: New Style Boutique and Freakyforms Deluxe: Your Creations, Alive.

Polygon has reached out to Nintendo for details as to whether the promotion is available in the U.S., and will update this story with more information as we have it.
