Colleen Lachowicz, the Democratic party candidate for Maine Senate criticized by her opponents for playing World of Warcraft and posting violent comments online, won her race for State Senate yesterday.
Lachowicz won by 913 votes over her opponent, GOP candidate Tom Martin, and will represent Kennebec and Somerset counties in the Maine Senate.
Shortly after the Maine GOP opened its website criticizing her, Lachowicz was flooded with offers to donate her campaign. Because she had taken a pledge to accept no donation, she suggested would-be donaters to send funds to national political fundraising group ActBlue.
The Maine GOP criticized Lachowicz for this, accusing her of improperly coordinating her activity with the group. These claims were dismissed by an ethics panel last week, which deemed further investigations into Lachowicz's actions unnecessary.
