The Walking Dead creator teams up with The Walking Dead: Assault for apocalyptic competition

The creator of The Walking Dead graphic novel series, Robert Kirkman, is bringing a new competition to the recently released The Walking Dead: Assault iOS title, publisher Skybound announced.

The Walking Dead: Assault's "9 Days of the Apocalypse" competition is a celebration of the apocalypse to come as predicted by the Mayans. Throughout this event, Robert Kirkman will set challenges for the game on his Twitter feed, available here. Challenges are scheduled to hit daily at 11 a.m. PST.

Challenge winners will be awarded prizes which will not be announced until the challenge is made. According to Skybound, they will include "very special items you will not be able to find anywhere else."

The Walking Dead: Assault launched to iOS devices on Nov. 30.
