Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 players will rack up twice as much XP this weekend, and developer Treyarch will simultaneously offer double clan XP to mark the launch of clan competitions, the studio announced yesterday.
Double XP will be awarded across all platforms from 1 p.m. ET on Friday, Dec. 14, to 1 p.m. ET on Monday, Dec. 17. The promotion will go live a couple of days after yesterday's launch of the Nuketown Zombies map for Xbox 360 Season Pass holders. Xbox 360 players will also be able to partake in a Game with Developers event on Dec. 14.
Clan competitions for Black Ops 2 are now live, and players who sign up for one of the three competitions taking place over the weekend will earn double clan XP. Here's the list:
- Core Domination Captures: 50/100/200 Captures
Friday, Dec. 14
Xbox 360: 1 p.m. ET
PlayStation 3: 1 p.m. ET - Core Kill Confirmed: Highest Total Confirms
Saturday, Dec. 15
Xbox 360: 1 p.m. ET
PlayStation 3: 5 p.m. ET - Core Team Deathmatch: Highest Total Kills
Sunday, Dec. 16
Xbox 360: 5 p.m. ET
PlayStation 3: 4 p.m. ET
Those three are just the start, according to Treyarch and Call of Duty Elite, who said they "will soon be expanding the options over the coming weeks."
While users of the Call of Duty Elite console and mobile apps can read the news in the apps, competition registration can only take place online at the moment. "We're working hard to bring the feature to mobile and console as well," said the Elite developers.
