Dallas looks to video games to learn how to plow snow

Dallas officials are using a snowplow driver video game of sorts designed by the company behind military, firefighting and aviation simulators to teach their highway officials how to plow snow, the Associated Press reports.

L-3's Snowplow Driver Training Simulator uses three video screens, a steering wheel, digital displays and a handle to operate the blade, to train drivers how to handle plowing customizable roads in a variety of settings.

Training through the system reduces accidents and increases fuel efficiency, according to the brochure for the hefty simulator.

Dallas paid for the training, and nine snowplow blades, after a surprise winter storm two years ago hit the week before the city was set to host the Super Bowl.
