Def Jam Recordings founder Russell Simmons has launched GreenROKS Ventures, a new project developer and multi-platform video game studio, the entertainment mogul announced.
The company will launch the first in a series of preteen and teen focused mobile gaming titles titled Mission G-ROK in spring of 2013. Mission G-ROK will center around G-ROK, an outgoing 11 year-old boy and aspiring music artist who has been chosen to save the world from an evil villain.
According to Simmons, the game will "allow kids to exercise their creative muscles by combining storytelling, music, math and science."
GreenROKS Ventures will create mobile, tablet and video-based titles that help educate children and young adults on matters relating to health, environment and social issues. The new company will also bring to the table webisodes, television and theater relating to these themes.
