Worms developer Team17 bringing Alien Breed to PlayStation 3

Team17, the U.K. studio best known for developing the very long-running Worms franchise, is bringing the top-down shooter Alien Breed to PlayStation Network in early February, the developer announced.

With the PSN release, players will be able to choose between the game's original 16-bit Amiga graphics or newly enhanced graphics for PS3. Alien Breed features a 30-level story mode, including three new level packs, as well as local and online co-op multiplayer for PS3 and PlayStation Vita. There is also cross-platform play, allowing users to carry their save progress from the PS3 to their Vita.

Alien Breed was first developed by Team17 over two decades ago, helping the Northern studio burst onto the scene. The game has since seen a number of sequels including Alien Breed 2: Assault and Alien Breed 3: Descent in 2010.
