World of Warcraft's in-game charity drive for Hurricane Sandy relief raised more than $2.3 million from players buying the Cinder Kitten pet, Blizzard announced recently.
Blizzard donated the funds to the American Red Cross yesterday.
The studio launched the fundraiser last month, with the entirety of the $10 price for Cinder Kittens purchased between Dec. 4 and Dec. 31 going to the Red Cross. By our math, that means World of Warcraft players bought at least 230,000 Cinder Kittens during that span.
The Red Cross will use the funds to help victims of the natural disaster, which struck the East Coast at the end of October.
"Thanks again to everyone who helped make a difference," reads the announcement on the World of Warcraft blog.
