PlayStation Network to be down for maintenance on Jan. 17

Parts of the PlayStation Network will be down for scheduled maintenance on Thursday, Jan. 17, Sony Computer Entertainment announced today.

The service will be down from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET and will affect the PlayStation Store and Account Management. These services will not be accessible during the scheduled maintenance window. Users will still be able to access online play and apps if they sign into the PlayStation Network at some point between now and the time of maintenance.

Sony says that the maintenance period is necessary so the company can "continue bringing you the best online games experience on PSN."
