F1 racing series developer Codemasters has entered a consultation period in preparation for an internal restructure that could result in layoffs, the company confirmed to Polygon this morning.
Codemasters emphasized that the layoffs were not company-wide, and that during this period the developer will review which areas within its digital and publishing sectors are not productive and how to offset this.
"As the Company realigns its operations to focus on areas of increased strategic importance and decrease resources in areas that are not delivering value for the business, the Company has proposed the restructure of certain aspects within its digital development and publishing units in line with future product strategy," read a statement provided to Polygon.
"As a result of the proposed restructure, the Company has therefore entered into a period of collective consultation with the affected employees."
Codemasters also said the restructuring will not affect its boxed console and PC products. This includes this year's upcoming F1 title and racer Grid 2, sequel to 2008's Race Driver: Grid.
