Gears of War: Judgment will carry with it a redeemable token to download the original Gears of War from the Xbox Live Games on Demand platform, Microsoft announced today.
The code will be included in all copies of the game, save for those distributed in Germany, as the original Gears was never sold in Germany due to ratings restrictions. The code will only be included in "initial launch quantities" for the game, which launches on March 19.
"Research indicates that more than half of the consumers who played Gears of War 3 did so without having experienced the original title from Epic Games," a press release accompanying the announcement reads. "This added bonus, a $19.99 value, offers veteran fans and newcomers alike a fantastic way to re-experience the iconic game that sparked one of this generation's most beloved and critically-acclaimed franchises and connect with the prequel storyline of Gears of War: Judgment."
