Escape Goat 2 receiving a complete graphics overhaul

A sequel to the goat-centric platformer Escape Goat, naturally named Escape Goat 2, is currently in development from MagicalTimeBean and is receiving a full graphics overhaul, the studio announced on independent games community Indie Statik.

Escape Goat 2 will feature familiar gameplay for returning players, in which the user solves single-room puzzles using a platforming goat character and mouse sidekick. Designer Ian Stocker is still contemplating whether to include a level editor, as was available in the previous game, however.

"This is yet to be decided," he says, "since something like this could delay the release by over a month. It's possible that it will be added after launch if I don't have time to get it into version 1.0. I'd really like something like this, because there are some amazing user-created levels for EG1, but I bet most players don't know where to find them (hint: my forum at magicaltimebean.com/forum)."

Artist Randy O'Connor, best knows for his work on Waking Mars, will help in overhauling the game's graphics, while in addition players can expect to find new in-game hats. The original Escape Goat featured a "magic hat" power-up that allowed the player to swap between goat and mouse characters.

Escape Goat 2 is expected to hit later this year on PC. The original Escape Goat is available on PC, Xbox Live Indie Games and web browsers. There are no current plans for an XBLIG release of the sequel as of yet.
