Grid 2 launching May 28 in NA and May 31 worldwide, pre-order DLC announced

Grid 2, the sequel to Codemasters' 2008 racing title, Grid, will launch May 28 in North America and May 31 in the rest of the world, the studio announced today.

The worldwide launch date is almost five years to the day from the European launch of the original Grid.

Retailer-exclusive pre-order bonuses consist of special editions that come with car packs.

GameStop pre-order customers will be treated to the Turbo-Charged Edition of Grid 2, which includes the McLaren Racing Pack (the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 Special Edition, an exclusive online event and two new routes at the Brands Hatch GP course) and the GTR Racing Pack (the Nissan GT-R SpecV, an exclusive online event and daytime versions of the six routes at the Yas Marina Circuit).

Pre-ordering Grid 2 at Best Buy will get you the IndyCar Edition of the game and its IndyCar Pack, which features the Dallara IndyCar, IndyCar Pace car, an exclusive online event and two new routes around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Oval Circuit. And if you pre-order at Amazon, you'll receive the Head Start Edition of Grid 2, which comes with the Head Start Pack. It includes the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 GT, a bonus for RaceNet (the game's online portal) and discounts in the in-game online store.

Both the McLaren Racing Pack and Head Start Pack will come with Grid 2 pre-orders in the U.K. at GAME. You can see the downloadable cars in the screenshots above.

Check out two trailers from September featuring some of the American courses in Grid 2. The game will be available on Windows PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
