A development diary for The Showdown Effect, a 2.5D multiplayer title inspired by ‘80s and ‘90s action movies, introduces viewers to a handful of the game's cast.
The Showdown Effect is the latest from Magicka developer Arrowhead Game Studios. According to CEO Johan Pilestedt and design director Emil Englund, the game will support up to eight players. Each will have the option to play as a variety of characters, including Sgt. Lance Koboldski, Hailey Skye, Shurr Foo and Dutch McClone. Players battle through platform-style environments with any weapon they can find, be it frying pan or lightsaber.
The beta is expected to start "soon," the developers said, although a specific date has not been announced. Beta signups are available on the official website. The Showdown Effect will be available for Windows and Mac.
