Three new expansion packs for The Sims 3 will launch in 2013, including The Sims 3 University Life and The Sims 3 Island Paradise, developer EA Maxis announced today.

University Life, which is set for release March 5, will let players vicariously live through (or relive, as the case may be) the quintessential college experience — sleeping through classes while earning a degree in one of six majors, engaging in young-adult hijinks like "juice-keggers" and exploring the college town around them. Getting a diploma provides tangible career benefits to Sims such as higher pay. EA will also release a Limited Edition of University Life that includes the Party Pack, a piece of content with in-game items specifically for throwing epic parties.

Island Paradise will be available in June. The tropical expansion pack will bring a seafaring adventure to the Sims universe, giving players the opportunity to venture forth and discover new islands, manage seaside resorts and enjoy aquatic activities like scuba diving.

This fall, Maxis will release a new stuff pack featuring movie-inspired items; the 70s, 80s, & 90s Stuff pack launches Jan. 22. The studio is also teasing a currently untitled expansion pack that will be set in the future.

All expansion packs require the base Sims 3 game on Windows PC or Mac. Check out screenshots of University Life above, and the announcement trailer below.
