Super Mario 3D World gameplay trailer shows new powerups, stages

A gameplay trailer revealed at today’s Nintendo Direct focuses on the variety of new powerups and items in the upcoming Super Mario 3D World.

In addition to showing off the game’s signature cat suit, which allows Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad to run up walls and destroy enemies with powerful scratches, the trailer also shows off an item that duplicates the character on screen and an item that turns the player into a Hammer Bro. The classic Tanooki suit is also making a return.

Other items include a portable Piranha Plant to munch on one’s enemies and a giant baseball to hurl at them.

Super Mario 3D World hits Wii U on Nov. 22 in North America and Nov. 29 in Europe.
