When auditioning for the part of The Joker in Batman: Arkham Origins, voice actor Troy Baker was given a mountain of material to prove his fit, according to the Batman: Arkham Origins panel at New York Comic Con 2013.
Watch Troy Baker read Joker’s monologue from Batman: The Killing Joke
Baker’s list of required recitings included lines from previous Arkham games, The Return of the Joker and a monologue from Alan Moore’s Batman: The Killing Joke. The scene takes place as Commissioner Gordon is heading through the Tunnel of Love.
“It’s one of my favorite monologues,” Baker said. “To me, it’s one of the best cross-sections of who the Joker is.”
Baker recited the monologue for the panel’s crowd, which you can watch above.
Batman: Arkham Origins launched for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and Windows PC Oct. 25. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced a free-to-play brawler of the same name for mobile devices yesterday.
