Natural Selection 2 developer Unknown Worlds is supporting a community-initiated crowdfunding project to begin a world championship tournament with plans to introduce preliminary events at the end of 2013, the studio announced.
The National Selection 2 World Championship is organized by three members of the game's community with plans to raise $30,000 to cover flights and accomodations for players. Organizers aim to bring the top four teams to Cologne, Germany following the initial international ladder planned for later this year.
Unknown Worlds will reportedly sponsor the venue at the ESLTV studio in Cologne, as well as offer front-page placement on video streaming service Twitch.tv.
Additional information can be found on the official Unknown Worlds website. As of press time the campaign has raised $925 of its funding goal.
