Solid Snake voice actor joins The Long Dark

The voice actor best known for his work as the English voice of character Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series, David Hayter, is joining the cast of first-person post-disaster survival game, The Long Dark, developer Hinterland announced today.

The game, which was recently successfully funded on Kickstarter, will also feature voice acting talent Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale, who voice the male and female Shepard from the Mass Effect games, and Elias Toufexis, who voices Adam Jensen from Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Hinterland has not yet announced which character Hayter will play.

In The Long Dark, players take on the role of William Mackenzie, a brush pilot whose plane has crashed in the remote wilderness. The survival game will see players balancing Mackenzie's needs like food, warmth, water and survival against the threat of wild animals. Hinterland revealed some of the game's first gameplay footage here.

The studio launched a Kickstarter campaign last month to raise $200,000 to fund the game's development. At the time of writing, more than $224,000 has been raised with just under two days to go.
