Evolution Studios' social racing game DriveClub might not make the PlayStation 4's Nov. 15 launch in North America, according to reports on the game's release status.
A rumor story posted by U.K.-based site The Same Coin, citing an anonymous source, indicated a delay of the game from November to spring 2014. A follow-up report on Kotaku, citing a source familiar with the matter, backed up the report. Sony Computer Entertainment told Polygon it had no comment on the matter, but did confirm the title was not present at a PlayStation 4 preview event today.
"Unfortunately the DriveClub team did have some scheduling conflicts and they were not able to make it to the showcase today," an SCEA rep said in an email.
DriveClub design director Paul Rustchynsky responded to requests for confirmation on Twitter today, saying, "Unfortunately guys I don't have any new information on DriveClub to share. I've been out if [sic] the office for a week looking after my newborn!"
A DriveClub delay would be a blow to the PS4 launch lineup in North America, which also no longer includes open-world action game Watch Dogs. Ubisoft delayed its contribution to the PlayStation 4 launch lineup earlier this week. DriveClub was also positioned as an incentive for PlayStation Plus subscribers. A "content-limited" version, dubbed DriveClub PS Plus Edition, will give subscribers access to the game, but with fewer cars and tracks than the retail version.
Sony announced DriveClub as a PS4 title when the next-generation console was officially unveiled in February.
