Lovecraftian puzzle adventure Magrunner: Dark Pulse is coming to PlayStation 3 via the PlayStation Network on Oct. 22 for $9.99, developer Frogwares’ Olga Ryzhko announced in a post on the PlayStation Blog.
Magrunner: Dark Pulse coming to PS3 Oct. 22
Magrunner: Dark Pulse is a first-person adventure set in the year 2048, wrapped in a “cyberpunk reimagining” of H.P. Lovecraft’s classic Cthulhu Mythos. A group of the smartest citizens have been chosen to join Magtech, a space exploration training program. Playing as one of these citizens, players must navigate a series of challenges and utilize a special weapon that allow them to magnetize objects. An earthquake rocks the training grounds, and players will find themselves facing an unexpected, more terrifying challenge than their training.
Players will use the magnetizing powers to change the polarity of objects and solve environmental puzzles. Players can “power up” other Magtech objects — objects of the same color will attract while opposite colors will push away other objects. According to the blog post, there are a number of different triggers and effects to play with, giving players the freedom to find solutions on their own. The end goal is the same for everyone, however: prevent the sealing on The Gate from being broken, otherwise Cthulhu will claim the world.
Magrunner: Dark Pulse launched for Windows PC in June. The game launched for Xbox Live Arcade last month.
