Bethesda Softworks has opened an Australian publishing office, ZeniMax Australia, in Sydney, the company announced today.

ZeniMax Australia will handle sales, marketing and distribution for Bethesda games in Australia and New Zealand. Bethesda sees the region as a market that's growing in importance, according to a press release from the company.

The new office, and Bethesda's operations in the region, will be overseen by Simon Alty, who will serve as managing director. He was previously the managing director of One to Another, a marketing agency located in Sydney that has worked with Bethesda before.

"Simon's experience and expertise in the games industry — specifically having worked on sales and marketing of Bethesda's titles the last four years — will be of great value as we open a publishing office in Sydney," said Sean Brennan, managing director of ZeniMax Europe, in the press release.

ZeniMax runs existing offices in Rockville, Md.; London; Paris; Frankfurt, Germany; Eindhoven, The Netherlands; Tokyo; and Hong Kong.
