Toymaker NECA will release a special edition NES-themed Robocop action figure based on the 8-bit version of the side-scrolling Robocop game in February 2014, the company announced today.
NECA's "1989 Video Game Appearance" Robocop stands at 7 inches and features a spring-loaded holster and Auto-9 Pistol. The fully articulated action figure is painted in the blue-ish purple video game palette with "a hint of cel shading."
RoboCop first launched across arcades in 1988 and was later released to home consoles, such as the NES, in 1989. Scheduled for a tentative February release, the video game-themed Robocop action figure will be limited to one production run only, according to NECA.
The company is set to release a NES-inspired Freddy action figure in November, based on LJN's A Nightmare on Elm Street video game, also released in 1989.
