The donation consists of 1,000 Steam codes for the $19.99 Defense Grid: Containment bundle, which includes Defense Grid: The Awakening and its You Monster and Containment add-ons, along with four "Resurgence" maps. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 developer Treyarch has also contributed to the 8-Bit Salute this year.
Through its 8-Bit Salute fundraiser, Operation Supply Drop is looking to collect video games and gaming gear that it can send to U.S. military personnel who are deployed in combat zones and recovering in hospitals. Last year, the organization raised more than $58,000 worth of games and accessories, enough for five deliveries to Afghanistan and one to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. This year’s 8-Bit Salute includes a 24-hour gaming marathon from Nov. 9-10 that will attempt to get individuals to donate games to the charity drive.
