Spelunker, the tough-as-nails 8-bit platformer from the 1980s, is now available on iOS as Everyday Spelunker, developer Tozai Games announced today.
8-bit platformer Spelunker hits iOS as Everyday Spelunker

Samit Sarkar (he/him) is Polygon’s deputy managing editor. He has more than 17 years of experience covering video games, movies, television, and technology.
The mobile version, which will soon be available on Android as well, is a port of the NES version. Spelunker was originally developed by MicroGraphicImage and released on Atari 8-bit computers in 1983. Irem handled the NES port, which launched in December 1985 in Japan and in September 1987 in North America.
Tozai’s mobile port features virtual on-screen controls, as you can see in the screenshot above. It includes some other optional concessions to the touchscreen format, such as a “rope assist” feature and endless continues. The main game costs $3.99, and customers can also purchase two add-on episodes — Episode 2: Deep into Another Mine and Episode 3: New Challenges — for $0.99 each.
