Outlast DLC announced, details coming Oct. 31

Horror title Outlast will receive downloadable content with a new protagonist and storyline, developer Red Barrels announced today.

In Outlast, players take on the role of a journalist investigating an asylum. The game is totally stealth-based, meaning players can't fight back, but can only run and hide. According to the developer's announcement, the DLC will allow players to "further explore the terrifying secrets that lie at the heart of Mount Massive Asylum." More details will be released Oct. 31.

The game is currently on sale with a 33 percent discount. Those who purchase Outlast directly from the developer will also receive a Steam key, DRM-free version and a copy of the soundtrack.

Outlast launched for Windows PC last month; the game is also expected on PS4. The title was recently featured in late-night talk show host and comedian Conan O'Brien's Clueless Gamer segments.
