The Miami Heat will win the NBA championship for the third year in a row, according to 2K Sports' simulation of the 2013-14 NBA season in the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of NBA 2K14.
When 2K Sports ran through the real-life season in NBA 2K14, cover athlete LeBron James and his Heat tallied a league-best record of 66-16 to take the Eastern Conference crown; the San Antonio Spurs led the Western Conference with a 51-31 record. The Heat took out the Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets on the way to a repeat of their 2013 NBA Finals showdown with the Spurs, and defeated Tim Duncan's squad four games to one.
Other storylines in the simulated season included the success of the Nets' offseason signings of veterans Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, who helped the team to a 62-20 finish for the No. 2 seed in the East; Kobe Bryant's return on Christmas Day from Achilles tendon surgery; Dwight Howard leaving the Los Angeles Lakers to join James Harden on the Houston Rockets; and Derrick Rose leading the Chicago Bulls to a third-place rank in the East.
