Set in a post-apocalyptic world, players take on the role of a settlement leader who must defend against undead hordes and bandits, while solving the mystery behind the zombie virus. Users can create a custom team of five zombie combatants, choosing from a pool of 125 different characters. There are three basic RPG classes and each character encountered is equipped with various skills, classes, weaponry and backstory.
Launching with 16 different zones, the isometric game also includes PVP features, as well as a multiplayer mode where players join up with other users to dispatch enemies.
"We wanted to build an experience where each person in your attack party matters and gives gamers the opportunity to explore the story behind everyone on their team," Gree Canada's general manager Steve Lin said in a statement. "Players can expect a deep storyline where every mission into hostile zones provides a new piece of information surrounding the infection. What caused it? Who is the team's mysterious benefactor? Is there a cure?"
