Nintendo bringing MonoGame Framework to Wii U

Nintendo plans to bring the MonoGame Framework, an open source version of the Microsoft XNA 4 Framework used to develop Bastion and Fez, to the Wii U system, Siliconera reports.

MonoGame Framework allows deverlopers to create cross-platform games by re-using code. This is currently supported by iOS, Android, Windows PC, Linux, Mac, Windows Phone 8, PlayStation Mobile and Ouya.

This is likely reflective of the company's plans to focus on the development of indie titles for Wii U, having previously announced users could expect to find up to 30 new indie titles in the Wii U eShop by the end of 2013.
