Konami Digital Entertainment has appointed Julien Merceron as its new worldwide technology director. Previously, Merceron served in the same role for Square Enix.
Part of his new job, which will be based at Konami's European HQ in the UK, will involve iterating Kojima Productions' Fox Engine, which powers games like Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain. Prior to working at Square Enix, he spent three years at Eidos and had previously been with Ubisoft.
"Julien is lauded in the industry for his leadership in game design and development," said Konami president Tomoyuki Tsuboi. "He will help us gain a technical edge in the highly competitive digital entertainment market through contributions to upcoming titles, making them more engaging and exciting for our customers."
