Destiny of Spirits, the free-to-play strategy game from SCE Japan Studio and Q Entertainment, will be available to try in a closed beta period from Oct. 24-31, publisher Sony Computer Entertainment announced today.

The invite-only beta will allow the developers to obtain feedback and incorporate it into the game before its release later this year.

In Destiny of Spirits, players can earn and collect Spirit Points, which are used to rent and merge Spirits; Summoning Stones, used to summon Spirits; and Destiny Orbs, which are used for special actions like advanced summoning. As players move to different regions around the world, they'll have access to different creatures and spirits based on their location on the globe.

Sony also released a new trailer for Destiny of Spirits, showing off the combat in the location-based PlayStation Vita title. You can check out the trailer above, and read our E3 preview for more details.
