Arcane Kids, the creators behind Perfect Stride and Zineth, released an 18th anniversary ode to retro series Bubsy called Bubsy 3D: Bubsy Visits the James Turrell Retrospective.
Bubsy was a platformer franchise created in the early ‘90s starring the titular bobcat. A 3D title, Bubsy 3D: Furbitten Planet, was released in 1996 for the PlayStation.
In Arcane Kids' Bubsy 3D, the game begins with a casual trip to the James Turrell Retrospective, a real-life exhibit that explores 50 years in the artist's career. The game quickly spirals into much stranger territory, however, as Bubsy takes a coffin bobsled ride straight into Hell.
"Explore your relationship with art as you guide bubsy through a realistic recreation of the James Turrell Retrospective at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art," the description reads. "After you have played Bubsy 3D and understand art a little better, Arcane Kids encourages you to go visit an art museum in your area and quit video games."
Bubsy 3D is available to play in your browser, though it requires Unity 3D. You can check it out on the game's website.
