Worms franchise creators Team17 are re-entering third-party publishing after an almost 20-year hiatus, the company announced today.
Team17's previously published games include Alien Breed, Super Stardust, Superfrog and Assassin. After moving away from publishing, the company is once again renewing its endeavors with indie developer Just a Pixel's 2D top-down stealth title, Light. The game requires players to take out guards and hack their way through levels, evading enemies and using light beams to uncover hidden obstacles in close-quarters environments.
"Ultimately, the timing is right; Team17 is in a very fortunate position with a wealth of personal experience to share," the company explained in a written statement. "Team17 has an incredible community running into many millions that we can cross-promote within and raise awareness for new IPs and specifically indie games, which are very close to our hearts and something we stand up for."
Light is currently up for voting on Steam Greenlight. A prototype of the game for Windows PC and Mac is available here.
