Valve's Three Spirits update for Dota 2 introduces two new Heroes, socketing, coaching, the Diretide event and more, according to an announcement on the official Dota 2 website.
The new Earth Spirit Hero features Boulder Smash, Rolling Boulder, Geomagnetic Grip that can pull a target allied unit or Stone Remnant towards him, call a Stone Remnant to a target location with Stone Remnant, and Magnetize, which deals damage over time.
The Ember Spirit Hero utilizes Searing Chains, which anchor enemies in place, Sleight of Fists attacks all nearby enemies, Flame Guard throws up magic-proof shield, Fire Remnant, which allows him to dash and detonate, and, players can select a Fire Remnant location with Activate Fire Remnant.
The familiar Storm Spirit is equipped with the explosively charged Static Remnant, Electric Vortex, Overload, which deals damage and slows enemies, and Ball Lightning, where the Hero becomes a charging mass of electricity.
Coaching mode allows a player to mentor members of a team while a game is underway. Coaches have the ability to spectate from a players perspective, ping the in-game environment and the game's HUD, as well as communicate via private voice and text channels.
Full details on Three Spirits update, such as socketing, showcase view and updates made to the UI, are listed in full on the Dota 2 website. Coinciding with the roll out of the game's update, Dota 2's Diretide, the annual Halloween event that features Halloween themed game modes, is now available and will run until Nov. 28.
The developers originally informed the community that the team decided not to ship the annual event which was "clearly a mistake." Earlier this week, the Dota 2 Team explained that the event's absence was due to prioritizing the development of the game's update over that of Diretide's.
