Ubisoft details PS4 Remote Play control shifting on Assassin's Creed 4

The Ubisoft blog released a diagram today showing how the PlayStation 4's Remote Play feature in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will affect the game's controls on the PS Vita.

When players access Remote Play, the control scheme will be different to the home console version because the PS Vita doesn't have the same number of buttons as the PlayStation 4's DualShock 4 controller.

On the DualShock 4, L2 and R2 control free-running, aiming and firing your gun. On the PS Vita, these triggers are mapped to the shoulder buttons. The back panel of the PS Vita has also been divided into two parts, with one part representing the DualShock 4's R1 button and the other being L1.

The PS Vita's touchscreen functions similarly to the touchpad on the DualShock 4. Players will be able to pull up the game's map and pinch and pull to zoom out as they would on the controller.

"These custom controls have been carefully engineered and tested to provide the best possible Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag handheld experience," Ubisoft communications associate Anne Lewis wrote on the blog.

Polygon's hands-on impression with the game's Remote Play feature can be read here.
