Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes gets 'Classic Snake' content on PS4 and PS3

The PlayStation 4 version of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes will include exclusive content, a "Déjà Vu" mission that harkens back to the original Metal Gear Solid, series creator Hideo Kojima announced tonight.

In the Déjà Vu mission, players will be able to play as "Classic Snake," a low-polygon version of the character that's reminiscent of the original PlayStation Metal Gear Solid, as he sneaks through a low-polygon version of the game populated with low-polygon enemies. In a trailer, it appears that Classic Snake executes a mission in a level that blends the two games, seemingly a rescue mission that involved Donald Anderson from Metal Gear Solid.

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes is the prologue to the full game, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. It's coming to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and will cost between $19.99 and $29.99 depending on platform and format.

Update: According to the official Metal Gear Solid 5 website, the "Déjà Vu" mission is also coming to PlayStation 3.

Retracing 16 years of history, the PlayStation-Exclusive "Déjà Vu" mission brings players back to the 1998 PlayStation classic "Metal Gear Solid". In an age when graphics were limited to blocky pixelated polygons, Metal Gear Solid set new standards in video game storytelling with its memorable characters, cinematic presentation, and complex story. Relive the most memorable moments of the past with this Sony-exclusive mission on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Past and present collide as the characters and camera angles you remember from the 16-year old classic are brought to life the high-fidelity world of MGS:GZ!
