Obduction Kickstarter draws to a successful close

Obduction, Cyan's spiritual successor to adventure game Myst, ended its Kickstarter campaign today with $1,321,306.

Fundraising began Oct. 17 with a goal of $1,100,000. More than 22,000 backers contributed to help make the campaign successful. Cyan posted a video, which you can watch above, that thanks fans while offering a teaser for the game.

Although the Kickstarter campaign is complete, Cyan will continue to raise funds toward the game's stretch goals via PayPal donations through its website. The game achieved only one of its stretch goals at $1.3 million, which added Oculus Rift support and localization. The second goal, attainable at $1.7 million, includes an additional world and Roadtrip mode.

Obduction surpassed its Kickstarter goal Nov. 13. The game is slated for an October 2015 launch for Mac and Windows PC. For more on the studio, check out our interview with co-founder Rand Miller.
