The Last of Us, Uncharted replica leathersmith raising funds for battle with cancer

Leathersmith David Vigil, known for his replicas of leatherwear from Naughty Dog games like The Last of Us and Uncharted, is asking for donations to assist in his battle against cancer through GoFundMe.

Last year 25-year-old Vigil was diagnosed with stomach cancer, which has since spread to his pancreas. He is currently fighting stage 2 pancreatic cancer and, according to a supporter on his GoFundMe page, "the severity of his cancer has made obtaining the funds in the time he needs seem impossible."

Vigil lacks the insurance needed to cover his treatment. Last year he raised $26,464 to treat his first round. This time he needs $47,000 — and with one day to go he has managed to gain just short of $23,000 at the time of writing. Should he fall short of his goal, Vigil will still be able to keep whatever donations come through the campaign.

Vigil's work include Nathan Drake's famous gun holster and the backpack used by Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us. Both items, and others, are available for sale from his personal website.
