A launch trailer for Ryse: Son of Rome introduces an Eternal City besieged, with barbarians at her gates.
Protagonist Marius Titus is a Roman soldier and leader whose family is killed in a barbarian attack, driving him to seek revenge by whatever means possible. Defending Rome against the foreign hordes, then, allows him to avenge his family while doing his duty.
The trailer hits on some of the game's plot points like a female barbarian spared by the Romans who repays mercy with aggression and leads "a thousand tribes" against them.
Ryse: Son of Rome launches with the Xbox One on Nov. 22. Look for the Polygon review later this week.
