Google's Doodle turns transforms into a Dr. Who minigame

Google has turned its homepage doodle into an interactive 8-bit Dr. Who game to celebrate the BBC series 50th Anniversary.

In the point-and-click game, players have choice to play as any one of the eleven Doctors. Users are required to the navigate levels and collect a letter from the word "Google" from each one. Levels are populated by the series recurring villains such as Daleks, Weeping Angels and Cybermen.

Past Google game-themed novelties include typing "zerg rush" into the search bar, causing a swarm of "O" characters to decimate the search results. Another Easter Egg involved using the engine to image search for "Atari Breakout," which caused the image search results to appear as colorful 2D blocks. Players could then obliterate the blocks by bounding a ball around with a paddle.
