Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes getting exclusive content on Xbox

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes will be getting exclusive content on Xbox, it was revealed last night during the Xbox One launch event in New York City.

The announcement was made during Spike TV's live broadcast of the event, held in Times Square's Best Buy Theater. Host Geoff Keighley said exclusive content for Ground Zeroes would be released for Microsoft's console when the game launches next year. No further details were shared on what the exclusive content contains or if it will come to both Xbox One and Xbox 360.

A sizzle reel of upcoming games published to the Xbox YouTube channel confirms Ground Zeroes' exclusive content. The video below — which shows the title around the 2:01 mark — also does not offer more details on the nature of the content. We've reached out to Microsoft to ask if the exclusive content will be coming only to Xbox One or to Xbox 360 as well.

Last week during Spike TV's live broadcast of the PlayStation 4 launch event in New York City, it was announced that Ground Zeroes' PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions would receive a character skin and level exclusive to the Sony consoles. Users can play as "Classic Snake," a low-polygon version of the original Playstation-era Snake in the "Déjà Vu" mission, which is taken from the original 1998 Metal Gear Solid.

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, the standalone prologue to Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, will launch in spring 2014 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
