Typing of the Dead Overkill gets multiplayer, Shakespeare DLC

New add-on content for Typing of the Dead: Overkill adds a cooperative multiplayer mode and a new word palette themed around the works of playwright William Shakespeare, Sega announced today.

The multiplayer update is available for all players as a free patch and unlocks a two-player co-op version of story mode, plus minigames for both players' participation.

The Shakespeare of the Dead DLC, which costs $2.99, replaces all typing phases within the game with lines from the famous writer's repertoire. Players can download the add-on through Steam.

The Typing of the Dead: Overkill launched for Windows PC through Steam in October. The title uses typing instruction to power first-person shooter mechanics and is based on Sega's zombie slaughter series, The House of the Dead. The main game includes nine stages and three difficulty levels.

Sega noted in a press statement that Shakespeare of the Dead is the first of what are "many planned" add-on packs for Typing of the Dead: Overkill. More will be made available in the coming months.
