The full version of Smite, Hi-Rez Studios' free-to-play 3D multiplayer online battle arena with a mythological twist, will launch on March 25, 2014, the developer announced today.
Smite is currently in an Open Beta phase, and all progression made during this period will transfer over to the full version of the game. Beta players who reach level 30 before March 25 will also unlock a special Cacodemon skin for playable character Ymir.
Hi-Rez noted in a press statement that the beta version of Smite has drawn in 2.5 million players to date. The MOBA's full launch will debut during the Fight Like A God European and North American tournaments.
The weekend following Smite's release, on March 29 and 30, Hi-Rez will commemorate the release by holding a $100,000 prize pool LAN Tournament for the title in Atlanta, Georgia. The tournament will feature the top four teams from both Europe and North America who qualify in Smite's Weekly Tournament Series, which kicks off on Jan. 4, 2014. All events will be livestreamed through Hi-Rez's Twitch channel.
