Zynga has emerged as the winner of its latest court lawsuit filed by Scrabble manufacturer Mattel over similarities between the name of its tile-based word app Scramble with Friends and board game Scrabble.
According to a BBC report, high court justice Peter Smith ruled Zynga was in the clear; however, the casual games company must change its logo for the title as it looks too similar to the word "scrabble" because of its stylized "M". According to the judge, the logo "gives the impression that the word is Scrabble when one looks at it quickly and has the propensity to confuse."
Zynga has recently been at the center of a number of lawsuits, including a lawsuit against a former employee over his alleged theft of trade secrets and a recently settled lawsuit against the creators of a casual sex networking iOS and Android app Bang with Friends, Inc.
