Mercenary Kings hits PS4 'this winter,' dev says

Mercenary Kings, Tribute Games' run-and-gun platformer, is headed to the PlayStation 4 "this winter," Tribute writer Yannick Belzil revealed recently on the PlayStation Blog.

Sony revealed during its E3 2013 press conference that the 16-bit-styled game would make its console debut on the PS4, and today's announcement attaches a release window to the game. Though he didn't provide any details, Belzil also teased the possibilities of interaction between PS4 and PlayStation Vita.

"Is there better friendship cement than blasting away giant Exo-suited soldiers or evil gods from other dimensions!?" he wrote. "There could be, but we can't think of any. And while it's still early for us to talk about it, the connectivity possibilities between PS4 and Vita are quite exciting for further multiplayer mayhem."

Tribute took Mercenary Kings to Kickstarter in August 2012 and Steam Early Access for Windows PC in July 2013. In August 2013, Tribute announced the Mercenary Kings Master Codex, a 200-page strategy guide and art book inspired by Nintendo Player's Choice guides.
